Exosomes

Role of extracellular matrix in cancer

BIOGRAPHY - LAHIRU GANGODA

Lahiru Gangoda completed her undergraduate degree with First class Honours (Majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2005. In 2008 she obtained a Masters in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics from La Trobe University. Her Masters Research project "Development of a genetically encoded cytochemical probe for different compartments of mammalian cells for fluorescence and electron microscopy applications" was supervised by Prof. Leann Tilley.

Following her Master degree, she joined the lab of Prof. Nicholas Hoogenraad as a full time Research Assistant during which she gained skills in monoclonal antibody production and screening.

In 2011 she started her doctoral studies under the supervision of Dr. Hamsa Puthalakath. Her PhD research was based on mouse tumor models and investigated the role of Bim as a tumor suppressor in Carney complex.

She joined Dr. Suresh Mathivanan lab in 2014 and her current research focus is on overcoming chemotherapeutic drug resistance in colorectal cancer.
